Occupational Health, Welfare, Personnel, Nurses, Teachers, Community Workers, Counsellors, GPs, Voluntary Sector Workers and those who would like to learn and use CBT/REBT skills within their own counselling style.
Aims :
To learn how to complete an initial assessment; including severity and impact on daily living.
Develop a case formulation for Specific Phobia.
To apply the ABC structure to assessment and treatment plans.
To become familiar with Cognitive restructuring and exposure techniques.
To understand working with a fear hierarchy.
Learning Objectives :
- To understand diagnostic classifications and epidemiological characteristics of Specific Phobia.
- To be able to assess client for contraindications to CBT/REBT.
- To gain a critical understanding of pharmacological and psychological treatment.
- To be able to identity external stimuli and maintaining factors, including catastrophic interpretations.
- To collaboratively agree homework activities and the 5 C’s of homework.
- To review achievements and gains.
- To develop a relapse prevention plan.
