Aims :

To learn how to complete an initial assessment; including severity and impact on daily living.
Develop a case formulation for Specific Phobia.
To apply the ABC structure to assessment and treatment plans.
To become familiar with Cognitive restructuring and exposure techniques.
To understand working with a fear hierarchy.

Learning Objectives :
  • To understand diagnostic classifications and epidemiological characteristics of Specific Phobia.
  • To be able to assess client for contraindications to CBT/REBT.
  • To gain a critical understanding of pharmacological and psychological treatment.
  • To be able to identity external stimuli and maintaining factors, including catastrophic interpretations.
  • To collaboratively agree homework activities and the 5 C’s of homework.
  • To review achievements and gains.
  • To develop a relapse prevention plan.
