Who should attend :
Occupational Health, Welfare, Personnel, Nurses, Teachers, Community Workers, Counsellors, GPs, Voluntary Sector Workers and those who would like to learn and use CBT/REBT skills within their own counselling style.
Aims :
To develop a practical competency in CBT/REBT for Post Traumatic Reactions and Stress Disorder.
To develop a critical knowledge of theory.
Learning Objectives :
- To become familiar with assessment tools and interviews for PTSD.
- To become familiar with pharmacological and psychological treatment for PTSD.
- To be able to encourage the client to tell their story.
- To be able to identify ‘hot’ spots, patterns of avoidance and safety seeking behaviours.
- To socialise the client into the CBT/REBT process and rationale for ‘reliving’ and ‘exposure’ therapy.
- To formulate a treatment plan that includes triggers for intrusive memories and dissociative flashbacks.
- To be able to collaboratively derive home work assignments.
- To be able to develop a relapse prevention plan.
