Aims :
To develop a practical competency in CBT/REBT for Panic Disorder.
To develop a critical knowledge of theory.
Learning Objectives :
- To gain an understanding of diagnosis and characteristics for Panic Disorder.
- To become familiar with pharmacological and psychological treatment for Panic Disorder.
- To be able to assess Panic Disorder and include the role of medication, substance use and previous treatments.
- To be able to identify triggers, patterns of avoidance and safety-seeking behaviours.
- To be able to use standard measures to evaluate outcomes with CBT/REBT for panic disorder.
- To be able to identify catastrophic interpretations of bodily sensations, generating alternative non-catastrophic interpretations, testing the validity of these through discussion techniques and behavioural experiments.
- To be able to derive specific related homework tasks and evaluating these in the next session.
- Ending therapy, review of gains, achievements, maintenance and relapse prevention.
