Aims :
To develop a practical competency in CBT/REBT for Depression.
To develop a critical knowledge of theory.
Learning Objectives :
- To understand how to assess clients with depression, including clinical manifestations, co-morbidity, past history, present life situation for contraindications to using CBT/REBT.
- To lean how to assess risk factors associated with depression and integration of risk management within treatment plans.
- To gain a critical understanding of pharmacological and psychological treatment.
- To be able to assess suicidal risk and implement practical strategies for managing such events.
- To prioritise problem areas, problem solving and identifying solutions.
- To be able to develop a case formulation for both cognitive and behavioural maintenance factors.
- To be able to develop a unique CBT/REBT treatment plan for depression according to client needs.
- To be familiar with ending therapy and planning for long-term maintenance of gains with evidence of relapse prevention.
- To gain an insightful knowledge of CBT/REBT and an ability to identify own values and beliefs in working with depression and CBT/REBT’s application to their own lives.
- To work effectively with supervision.
